This is a collection of works by Martha Cooper, an American photojournalist, titled "Subway Art (1993)." Cooper became fascinated with photography after taking photos of tattoos during a trip to Japan. She interned at "National Geographic" in the 60s and worked as a staff photographer for the American tabloid "New York Post (NY Post)" from the 70s. Captivated by the "underground culture" of New York that she saw on her way to and from work, she began to document the New York subculture scene of the 80s as her life's work. She then gained recognition as a photographer who captured "graffiti art" on the streets. This book, "Subway Art," was co-authored with Henry Chalfant and published in 1984.
